What is an Annual?
A true annual is a plant that completes its life cycle in one year — meaning it grows from seed, produces flowers all season long and then dies. An annual’s “mission” is to produce seed and propagate. Therefore, when we say you have to deadhead an annual, the reason is so they will produce more flowers and not go to seed.
Some annuals prefer the cooler temperatures of early spring and fall such as pansies. And conversely, zinnias don’t take off until the nights stay warm.
As you visit our two greenhouses you will see that Every Bloomin’ Thing carries all the old standby’s such as marigold and petunias. But we also carry the latest annuals of choice known as ‘Proven Winners’. This is an extensive line of annuals that are easy to maintain and are vigorous, vibrant and unique. They come in either 4” or 6½” pots, hangers and patio pots.
